Microsoft just moved everything to One Drive without permission - Blind person totally lost as brain dead machine scrambled his desktop.

This is totally unacceptable and is a violation of ADA provisions of federal law.

Done without permisson as if Microsoft "owned" the machine. They do not own the data and had no permisson to move it.

This has done more damage to him than any virus ever has!

DOJ should investigate this security breach where Microsoft stole all of his information and placed it on OneDrive for marketing purposes (so they could charge for storage).

What a Mess!  Why should we spend hours trying to Undo what Microsoft did without permisson!

Review ADA requirements for dealing with Blind people.

Note: he could not SEE the green circle on each file/folder with a checkmark!

Note: he uses "jaws" which is a software text reader for blind people.

On sept 22 I was contacted by a blind friend because his laptop was not responding and he couldn't find anything.

I logged in to his machine (in florida) from Washington and after some inspection found that an "update" or you could call it a Microsoft virus has moved EVERYTHING from where it was to One Drive without his permisson.

My investigation indicated that 21Gb of data was moved to one drive, His machine had stopped responding because Indexing would take 12 hours according to a message he got somewhere on his machine.

Since they did this without his permisson they should undo it right now with no further action on his part!

His local desktop shows no files on his local PC... all are on onedrive.  Only clue is a little circle with a green check mark which hints that the move was completed.

Research on Google has given some suggestions but I will study the situation a bit more before I change a machine 3000 miles away, as they did without permisson.

---  here is some of what I learned from the search --
  • Warning! use caution because my experience has indicated that if you delete something on one drive it is deleted everywhere!

  • If you need to recover files that were moved to OneDrive without your permission, you can try these steps:
Restore your OneDrive: Go to the OneDrive website, sign in, select Settings, then Options, and then Restore your OneDrive. You can select a date range or a custom date and time. You can also use the activity chart and activity feed to review recent activities.

  • Restore a deleted file: You can restore a deleted file from the OneDrive recycle bin.
Restore a previous version of a file: You can restore a previous version of a file.
Check other locations: You can check for files in your Personal Vault or search for them on another Microsoft account.
  • OneDrive is the default save location for files and documents in Windows 10. This means that new files and documents are automatically saved to OneDrive unless you save them to a different location.

  • First, find the OneDrive folder in File Explorer, right-click, and select "Always keep on this device."

  • Or you can go to the OneDrive cloud icon on the taskbar > OneDrive Settings > Sync and Backup tab > Advanced settings > Files On-Demand > Download all files, which will download all files to your computer.

  • Then, turn off the OneDrive sync of all the folders at Manage Backup, which you can find by going to the OneDrive cloud icon on the taskbar > OneDrive Settings > Sync and Backup tab > Manage Backup. Then, you can uninstall OneDrive.
